Dane/Mastiff 4 Sale
« on: February 15, 2009, 05:22:18 PM »
I have a Dane/Mastiff Dog for sale.
He's about 2 years old, about 70 cm at the shoulder, and I'd guess 45-50 kg.

He has a pretty reasonable find and has caught quite a few. He's mainly worked Cane and travels well through it because he's an athletic type. Has found and caught without any problem in rubbervine and open country as well.

I got him to fill in the gap after I had a really bad run and lost virtually all my dogs in the space of a few months. He was a town dog when I got him so the learning curve has been pretty steep. I've ironed out most of the bad habits.

He's done the majority of his hunting with a pack of reasonable (mates) dogs around him, but seems to perform much the same by himself.

His downsides are that he's fairly hard most of the time so getting him to run on etc. has been a bit much. Wasn't ever interested in stock too much but took a while to ignore bandicoots, wallabies and especially chooks. Some dogs learn to ignore instinct quicker than he does, but he does come around.

I had a young bloke keen to take him off me but can't because of a change in circumstances. So I'm putting him out there if anyones interested.

Located in North Queensland.

I'm not exactly sure what he's worth because a lot of the work's been done with him,
so I reckon he's probably worth a few hundred.
I'm more interested in seeing him go to someone who's keen to use him.

Thanks to those who were interested, but I decided to keep him after all because he's still getting better and better. He's pulled off a few really good finds and catches on some decent cane boars just recently. I think I'd kick myself if I let him go now. I'll just have to tell the wife later........

catch ya,

Androo
