Pig Hunters for Kids in PNG
During 2009 Pig hunters were in the media for a lot of wrong reasons. Most of the bad press was misinformed media stories on dog attacks and rural property damage as well as some idiots poaching on private properties and Government owned land. After much thought, as ex-President of the A.P.D.H.A and a trip to the highlands of Papua New Guinea, I came up with an idea to put hunters in the press for all the right reasons.
Offering support to those who are worse off than we are, the kids of PNG. After a two week volunteer work trip to the highlands in October 2009 I realised a lot of the children lack what we would consider to be the basics of life and also have no sports gear at all.
By starting Pig Hunters For Kids in PNG we can put together enough donated gear to make a big difference in the lives of these children. I already have support in obtaining a 20ft container and getting it up to a distribution point in the PNG Highlands. We have schools and church’s donating education and health equipment but we would like hunters from around Australia to donate either kids clothing, footy gear or basic first aid gear. The whole project will be recorded so we can submit articles to the Australian news media on the compassionate and generous side of hunters.
I have established strong contacts with high proile people and organizations up in PNG who will along with us organise the distribution of all the items direct to small schools and children via the town of Wabag in the Central Highlands. A team of volunteers and myself, will be onsite to oversee the project and ensure security. To the right is a list of the items that are needed and all we ask, is for hunters to donate one item from the list and forward it to ...
